Proud to be Gay Gay Pride, LGBT prides march, Christopher Street Day... are the affirmation of the pride to be gay in opposition to the shame that has been often been used to control and oppress the gay community during its history. The first march goes back to the night of the 27th to 28th June 1969. Enraged by the repeated and strong raids of the New York police in the gay bars of Greenwich Village, some clients of Stonewall Inn rebelled. Passers-by joined in and with the size of the crowd, the police sheltered themselves in the bar to wait for reinforcements. The next year in memory of the 3-days conflict at Stonewall, the first gay pride was organised.Today, many countries in the world celebrate the pride to be LGBT. These marches are an essential movement for the visibility and claim of the community. Some are real parties where gays and friendly heterosexuals mingle together, others are struggles to exist in the face of the hostility of the population and the violence of the opponents. On this website, you can find the best videos of gay prides around the world and links to websites of the organising associations. Stephan
